These editors do have their uses, and for the most part are OK, but as with all things they have their weaknesses WYSIWYG editors, although making huge improvements in recent years, are still renowned for the bloat they add. Many WYSIWYG editors create the source code based upon what you tell it, but then struggle to do anything more with it. The HTML code that comes out of a WYSIWYG is usually very untidy and contains many semantic errors. Most editors are also legacy software that do not have support for the latest standards such as HTML5 and CSS3. WYSIWYG editors are also confined to the templates that they have been provided with, templates that have been used by hundreds of people before you. There is usually an inverse proportion between the amount of customisation allowed to make the website your own, and the semantic correctness of the HTML generated.
